The Story

Motivations

I created WHITE SHEEP GAMING as a platform to build and share. Over the years I've found that one of the most fulfilling feelings is showing someone what's possible with technology- to see the light in their eyes as they find out they can make their dreams tangible. WSG primarily exists as a game development company, but I do much more with it by participating in game jams and teaching others about the process. From Digital Art to Music Composition to Programming.

Journey

I was fortunate to grow up in a home with technology sooner than most at the time and, of course, quickly found enjoyment in video games. They were visual stories you could immerse yourself in far easier than a movie, with control greater than a book. Legend of Dragoon, Monkey Island, and Lode Runner are some games that gave a strong foundation for rich storytelling, embracing silliness, and puzzle solving. I took some Computer Science classes in college, but majored in Studio Art, while taking the opporunity to enjoy IT student work experience every chance I got. Post college, I worked various IT roles for years, excitedly taking any creative project. Every step of the way, I prioritized opportunities that held a foot within education. With the advancements in Artificial Intelligence publicly in 2022 affecting everyday life, I decided to beginning pivoting towards the field.

Why AI

AI is overhyped currently, trickier than most think, and extremely easy to misuse. So there's a lot to learn! And practices to incorporate responsibly. For instance, most models have been trained on data that was scraped from the internet or from copyright works. To mitigate this, it's important to augment any output, providing your own touch/flare. There are plenty of other spaces to also talk about compensation for sources used or referenced. I highly recommend taking a look at such actions taken by Perplexity or talks regarding responsible use with Denis Newman-Griffis. On a macro-scale, AI has transformed how businesses operate irreversibly on a global scale, so it's all the more important to understand the subject matter. I've independently pursued certifications in Solution Architecture and Machine Learning Engineering to underscore a commitment in learning system design and how these technologies are made, not just used.
